This place is still so very far from being acceptable, but Chloe has been here going on three weeks now and she hasn't lost her mind yet or woken up strapped to some hospital bed, so she's begun to consider the fact that this might not be something she can talk, shoot, or drive her way out of.

Which is a bit of a piss off, given that she's made a reputation of being able to talk, shoot, or drive her way out of anything.

She can only spend so much time pestering Nate, because while that is absolutely one of her favourite hobbies, he has plenty of his own baggage to be dealing with at the moment, and given how terrible Chloe is with baggage, she's doing her best not to lean too heavily on him. Besides, it's not like she's never been on her own before. She had to make a name for herself the first time around and she knows she can do it again. Within a month she'll have half of Darrow's criminal population eating out of her hand.

For now, though, she needs a bloody drink, and so she's walking one of Darrow's busier streets, looking for the right place. Heads turn as she walks by and she notices, but she doesn't react. It's been happening all her life, people looking at her like that, and she's long since learned to ignore it to the best of her ability, unless it's going to benefit her in some way, which she can tell it isn't. Not tonight. None of these idiots are remotely interesting to her.

In jeans and a tank top, there's really nowhere to hide her gun, so she's left it at home, though she's never really unarmed. She'd probably be able to best most of the people around her in a fight, but that isn't what she's looking for. Not yet, anyway.

What she needs is another woman. Women in pairs always frighten men away, especially when they're attractive, so when she spots a lovely woman just up ahead, Chloe quickens her pace until she finds herself by the woman's side, and then she turns and flashes a smile.

"I need saving," she says sweetly. "There's this guy following me and if I could just pretend you're a friend I was planning to meet, I'm sure he'll head off on his way." It's bullshit, but it doesn't matter. She tells the lie sincerely and it's not one of consequence anyway. Even if she and this woman were to become great friends, that one little lie won't make a lick of difference in the end.
